How Do You Do Patterns in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 9:03 pm

Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool, which is primarily used by designers to create interface designs and illustrations. Unlike other vector drawing software, Figma is web-based, making it easy to share and collaborate on designs. It also has an intuitive interface that makes it easy to get started with.

One of the most powerful features of Figma is its ability to create and manipulate patterns. Patterns are repeating design elements that can be used to create complex, detailed designs quickly and easily. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create patterns in Figma.

To create a pattern in Figma, you first need to create a frame. This frame will be the repeating element in your pattern.

To do this, simply click on the “Create Frame” icon in the toolbar, or press “F” on your keyboard. Then, draw a rectangle around the area you want to repeat.

Once you have your frame created, you can start adding elements to it. To do this, simply click and drag an element from the canvas onto your frame. You can add as many elements as you like.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Figma, please be aware that ‘How Do You Do Patterns in Figma?’ is a tutorial that covers a very specific design tool. The author does a great job of explaining how to use this tool, but please be aware that it is very specific to Figma. If you are not familiar with Figma, this tutorial may not be very helpful to you.

Once you’re happy with your pattern, you can duplicate it by pressing “Ctrl+D” (PC) or “Cmd+D” (Mac). This will create a copy of your pattern that you can move around and place wherever you like on your canvas.

You can also use patterns to fill shapes. To do this, simply select the shape you want to fill, then click on the “Fill” option in the toolbar and select “Pattern”.

This will open up a menu of all the patterns you’ve created. Simply select the one you want to use and it will be applied to your shape.

Creating patterns in Figma is a quick and easy way to add complexity and detail to your designs.
