How Do You Do States in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 10:43 pm

There are many ways to do states in Figma. The most common way is to use the built-in states panel. You can also use the layers panel and the properties panel.

To use the built-in states panel, select the layer you want to add a state to and click the “+” icon in the top right corner of the panel. This will create a new state for the selected layer. You can then rename the state and add different content for each state.

PRO TIP: This article is a guide on how to do states in Figma. It is not a definitive guide, nor is it a tutorial. It is intended to give you an overview of the options available to you when working with states in Figma.

To use the layers panel, select the layer you want to add a state to and click the “States” icon in the top right corner of the panel. This will open a new window where you can manage all of your layer’s states.

To use the properties panel, select the layer you want to add a state to and click the “Edit” button in the top right corner of the panel. This will open a new window where you can edit all of your layer’s properties, including states.

Adding states to your layers is a great way to keep your design organized and easy to change. Experiment with different methods and find what works best for you!
