How Do You Interlace an Image in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 3:00 pm

There are a few ways to interlace an image in Photoshop, and the best way depends on the desired result. One way is to use the Clone Stamp tool to copy pixels from one area of the image to another, creating a checkerboard effect.

Another way is to use the Screen Mode option in the Layer Styles dialog box. This will create a screen-like effect that can be used to interlace two images.

The Clone Stamp tool is the best way to create a checkerboard effect. To use the Clone Stamp tool, select it from the Tools palette and then Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac) to select the area you want to clone.

PRO TIP: When interlacing an image in Photoshop, it is important to first flatten the image and then save a copy of the file. Next, go to Image > Interlace and select the desired option. Finally, click OK to save the changes.

Next, click and drag to clone the pixels from one area to another. Be sure to release the Alt or Option key when you’re done cloning.

The Screen Mode option is best for creating a screen-like effect. To use this option, double-click on the layer you want to affect in the Layers palette.

This will bring up the Layer Styles dialog box. Select “Screen” from the Mode drop-down menu and then click OK.
