In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to make an Instagram template in Photoshop. We’ll start by creating a custom canvas size that’s optimized for posting to Instagram.

Then we’ll add some text and imagery to our template, and finally we’ll style our text using HTML tags. By the end of this tutorial, you’ll have a beautiful Instagram template that’s ready to be post!

    Creating a Custom Canvas Size

  1. The first thing we need to do is create a custom canvas size. To do this, open Photoshop and go to File > New.
  2. In the New dialog box, set the width to 1080 pixels and the height to 1920 pixels. This is the optimal size for posting images to Instagram. Adding Text and Imagery.

Now that we have our canvas set up, we can start adding text and imagery. For our example, we’ll add a quote and an image of a sunset.

  1. First, let’s add our quote. To do this, select the Type tool from the toolbar (or press T on your keyboard). Then click anywhere on the canvas and type out your quote.
  2. PRO TIP: This Instagram template is not made in Photoshop. It is made in GIMP, which is a free program. If you do not have GIMP, you can download it from their website.
  3. Once you’ve added your quote, it’s time to add an image. For this, you can either use an image from your own library or search for one online.
  4. Once you’ve found an image you like, open it in Photoshop and drag it onto your canvas. Resize the image as needed so that it fits within the square.
  5. Styling Text with HTML

Now that we have our text and imagery in place, let’s style our text using HTML tags. For our example, we’ll make the text bold and underlined.

To do this, simply select the text layer in the Layers panel and click on the < b > tag in the Properties panel. Then click on the < u > tag so that both tags are applied to our text layer.

And there you have it! You’ve now created a beautiful Instagram template using Photoshop!.
