How Do You Make Vintage Textures in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 9:31 pm

Vintage textures are all the rage these days. If you’re looking to add a bit of vintage charm to your digital designs, Photoshop is a great place to start. Here are a few tips on how to create vintage textures in Photoshop:

1. Start with an old paper texture.

You can find plenty of free textures online, or scan in some old paper from your own collection. This will be the base for your vintage texture.

2. Add some grunge.

To make your texture look truly aged, add some grunge overlays. You can find plenty of free grunge textures online, or create your own by adding noise and scratches to a blank layer.

3. Add a vignette.

Vignettes were commonly used in old photographs, so adding one to your texture will give it an authentic vintage feel. To create a vignette, simply darken the edges of your texture using the Burn tool.

4. Change the color scheme.

Vintage textures often have a muted, sepia tone. To recreate this effect in Photoshop, simply desaturate your texture and then add a yellowish tint.

With these four simple tips, you can easily create vintage textures in Photoshop that will add a touch of nostalgia to any design.
