How Do You Mirror an Image on Photoshop?

Last updated on January 25, 2023 @ 5:59 pm

In Photoshop, you can mirror an image horizontally or vertically. To mirror an image horizontally, choose Image > Image Rotation > Flip Horizontal. To mirror an image vertically, choose Image > Image Rotation > Flip Vertical.

If you want to create a reflection of an image, you can use the Flip Vertical command to flip the image upside down, and then place the copy of the image below the original. With the layer selected that contains the copy of the image, choose Edit > Transform > Warp. In the Warp dialog box, select one of the preset warp styles, and then click OK.

To create a horizontal reflection, follow these steps:

  1. Open your image in Photoshop.
  2. Click on Image, then hover over Image Rotation. A drop-down menu will appear. Select Flip Horizontal. This will turn your image upside down.
  3. Click on Edit, then hover over Transform.
A drop-down menu will appear. Select Flip Vertical. This will turn your image right-side up again.
  4. Place the copy of the image below the original.
  5. With the layer selected that contains the copy of the image, click on Edit, then hover over Transform. Select Warp.

In the Warp dialog box, select one of the preset warp styles, and then click OK.

To create a vertical reflection, follow these steps:

  1. Open your image in Photoshop.
  2. Click on Image, then hover over Image Rotation.
  3. Select Flip Vertical.
  4. Click on Edit, then hover over Transform. Select Flip Horizontal.

This will turn your image upside down.

PRO TIP: Some versions of Photoshop may allow you to mirror an image, but this is not recommended. Mirrored images can be confusing and difficult to interpret.
