How Do You Resize a Proportionally in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 10:24 pm

There are a few different ways to resize an image proportionally in Photoshop. The first way is to select the image with the Move tool, and then click and drag one of the corner handles while holding down the Shift key. This will constrain the proportions of the image as you resize it.

Another way is to go to Edit > Transform > Scale, and then check the “Constrain Proportions” box in the options bar before resizing the image. Or, you can enter specific values for width and height in the options bar, and Photoshop will automatically constrain the proportions.

If you want to change the pixel dimensions of an image without changing its physical size, you can do that in Photoshop as well. Just go to Image > Image Size, and uncheck the “Resample Image” box in the options bar. Then you can enter new values for width and height, and Photoshop will change the pixel dimensions without resampling the image.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop’s proportional resize feature, be sure to read the instructions carefully before attempting to use it. This feature can be tricky to use, and if you’re not careful, you may end up with an image that is distorted or otherwise doesn’t look quite right.

To resize an image proportionally in Photoshop:

  1. Select the image with the Move tool.

Or
