When you want to slow down a GIF in Photoshop, there are a few different ways you can do it. One way is to use the ‘Time Remapping’ function.

To do this, open your GIF in Photoshop and go to ‘Window’ > ‘Timeline’. In the Timeline window, click on the ‘Create Frame Animation’ button, which is the icon that looks like a filmstrip.

Once you’ve done that, click on the first frame in the animation and go to ‘Edit’ > ‘Copy’. Then, click on the last frame in the animation and go to ‘Edit’ > ‘Paste’. This will paste the first frame over the last frame, effectively reversing the animation.

Now, go back to the first frame and click on the ‘Time Remapping’ button, which is the icon that looks like a clock. This will open up a new window with some options for how you want to remap the timing of your animation. For this particular effect, you’ll want to select the ‘Stretch+Speed/Duration’ option.

In the next window, change the ‘Speed’ option to 0%. This will make it so that when you play your animation, it will start out playing slowly and then speed up to its normal speed. You can adjust this setting to whatever you want, but 0% is a good starting point.

Click ‘OK’ and then play your animation back. It should now be playing in reverse! To make it play forwards again, just go back and change the Speed setting back to 100%.

Another way to slow down your GIF is by using Photoshop’s built-in timeline. To do this, open your GIF in Photoshop and go to ‘Window’ > ‘Timeline’.

In the Timeline window, click on the icon that looks like two filmstrips stacked on top of each other. This will create a new layer for each frame in your GIF.

Now, double-click on each layer in turn and change their opacity settings. The lower the opacity setting, the longer that particular frame will stay on screen. So if you want your GIF to play slowly, you’ll want to set the opacity of each layer to a lower number.

PRO TIP: If you are working with a GIF in Photoshop, be aware that you can easily slow down the GIF by accident. If you accidentally click on the “Timeline” tab at the bottom of the screen, the GIF will automatically play at a slower speed. To fix this, simply click on the “Frame Animation” tab and then click on the “Play” button.

You can also use this technique to create some interesting effects by changing the opacity of only some of the layers. For example, you could make every other layer more opaque than usual so that those frames play for twice as long.

There are lots of different ways you can use Photoshop to slow down your GIFs. Experiment with different techniques and see what works best for you.
