How Do You Unfreeze Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 10:32 pm

Adobe Photoshop is a powerful photo-editing software that gives users a wide range of options for manipulating, improving and retouching photos. However, Photoshop can sometimes become unresponsive, or “frozen.”

When this happens, it can be frustrating, especially if you’re in the middle of working on an important project. Luckily, there are a few things you can try to get Photoshop up and running again.

PRO TIP: Before attempting to unfreeze Photoshop, make sure that you have saved all unsaved work. Photoshop may become unresponsive or crash if it is not frozen properly.

First, try restarting your computer. This will close all open programs, including Photoshop, and give your computer a fresh start.

If Photoshop is still frozen after restarting your computer, try opening the program in safe mode. To do this, hold down the Shift key while double-clicking the Photoshop icon. This will prevent some features from loading when Photoshop starts up, but it may help to fix the issue.

If neither of these solutions works, your last resort is to uninstall and then reinstall Photoshop. This will delete all of your preferences and settings, so make sure to back up any files you want to keep before proceeding.

To uninstall Photoshop, open the Control Panel and select “Add or Remove Programs”. Find Adobe Photoshop in the list of installed programs and click “Remove”. Once it’s been uninstalled, restart your computer and then download and install the latest version of Photoshop from Adobe’s website.
