How does billing work on UpWork?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 8:59 pm

UpWork bills clients based on the hours worked and the rate per hour. Clients are charged for the time they spend working on a project, not the time it takes to set up the project.

UpWork also charges clients for any additional services required for the project, such as design or programming.

PRO TIP: Billing on Upwork can be a bit confusing and overwhelming at first. Make sure you understand how billing works before starting to use Upwork.

UpWork bills clients quarterly, and sends invoices directly to the client’s billing account. The billing process is easy to use, and all you need is an UpWork account and a bank account.

You can also pay your invoices using PayPal, Venmo, or your bank’s online payment service.
