How Does WooCommerce Check Stripe Payment?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 9:33 pm

When you make a purchase on WooCommerce, your payment information is sent to Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe then verifies that your credit or debit card is valid and has the necessary funds available. Once the purchase is complete, you’ll receive an email receipt from Stripe.

WooCommerce uses what’s called “Instant Payment Notification” (IPN) to communicate with Stripe. This means that as soon as a purchase is made on your site, Stripe is notified and can begin processing the payment.

If you’re using WooCommerce with a US bank account, you’ll also be able to take advantage of ACH payments. ACH payments typically take 1-2 business days to clear, but they have a lower fee than credit or debit card payments.

Here’s a breakdown of how WooCommerce processes payments with Stripe:

PRO TIP: Please be aware that WooCommerce does not currently have a built-in mechanism for checking Stripe payments. This means that if you are using Stripe to process payments for your WooCommerce store, you will need to manually check to ensure that all payments have been processed correctly. Failure to do so could result in lost or incorrect payments.

1. You make a purchase on WooCommerce.

2. Your payment information is sent to Stripe.

3. Stripe verifies your credit or debit card and begins processing the payment.

4. You receive an email receipt from Stripe once the purchase is complete.
