Assuming you already have a Squarespace account and website, transferring a domain to Squarespace only takes a few steps and shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes.
First, you’ll need to log into your Squarespace account and go to theSettings panel. From there, select Domains.
Next, find the domain you want to transfer in the “Domain Management” section and click the ellipsis (..). A drop-down menu will appear with the option to “Transfer Domain.”
Click that, and you’ll see a popup with instructions for transferring your domain. The first thing you’ll need is an authorization code from your current registrar. This code is required to transfer your domain and can usually be found in your registrar’s Domain Manager.
Once you have the code, enter it into the popup window on Squarespace and click “Verify Authorization Code.”
Squarespace will then generate a list of transferable domains associated with that code. Select the domain you want to transfer and click “Continue.”
On the next page, review your contact information to make sure it’s up to date and click “Transfer Domain.”
You’ll see one more popup with some final instructions. Once you’re ready, click “Start Transfer.”
Your domain will begin transferring to Squarespace! The process can take up to 15 minutes, but is usually much quicker. You’ll receive an email from us when the transfer is complete.
