Is 8GB of RAM Enough for Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 9:22 pm

As a rule of thumb, 8GB of RAM is more than enough for most users. It’s enough for the average person to have several tabs open in their browser, run a few programs at once, and even play some games.

For power users, 16GB or more is recommended. But for those who just want to do some light image editing in Photoshop, 8GB should be plenty.

PRO TIP: 8GB of RAM may not be enough for Photoshop. Photoshop may require more RAM to run properly.

If you’re planning on doing any serious video editing or graphics work in Photoshop, you’ll need more than 8GB of RAM. For 4K video editing, 32GB or more is recommended. And if you’re working with large images or doing lots of multitasking, you may want to consider upgrading to 64GB.

Conclusion:

For most users, 8GB of RAM will be plenty for light image editing in Photoshop. However, if you’re planning on doing any serious video editing or graphics work, you’ll need more than 8GB of RAM.
