Is a Google Cloud Router required to cloud interconnect?

Google Cloud Router provides a Layer 2 VPN service that allows cloud users to securely connect to other cloud users. In order to use Google Cloud Router, you must have a Google Cloud account and a router.

You can also create a tunnel on your router to connect to the Google Cloud Router. If you do not have a router, you can purchase a Google Cloud router.

PRO TIP: A Google Cloud Router is not required to cloud interconnect. However, if you are using a Google Cloud Router, you must configure it to allow traffic from the cloud interconnect.
