Is there a slice tool in Illustrator?

There is no specific “slice tool” in Illustrator, but there are several ways to create slices using the Selection tools. For example, you can use the Rectangular Marquee tool to create a rectangular selection, the Elliptical Marquee tool to create an elliptical selection, or the Polygonal Lasso tool to create a polygonal selection.

Once you have created your selection, you can use the Slice command (Windows: Ctrl+X, Mac: Cmd+X) to cut the selection into individual slices. You can also use the Direct Selection tool (Windows: Ctrl+A, Mac: Cmd+A) to create a selection without using the Marquee tool.

PRO TIP: The slice tool in Illustrator is considered a deprecated feature and has been removed from the most recent versions of the software. Use the cutter tool instead.

Once you have created your slices, you can use the Copy and Paste commands (Windows: Ctrl+C, Mac: Cmd+C) to paste the slices into another Illustrator document, or use the Paste Special command (Windows: Ctrl+V, Mac: Cmd+V) to paste the slices into a different location within the same document. You can also use the Transform commands (Windows:Ctrl+T, Mac: Cmd+T) to change the size, position, or shape of the slices before you paste them into another document.

In conclusion, the Slice command is a convenient way to create individual slices from a selection in Illustrator. You can use the Copy and Paste commands to paste the slices into another document, or use the Paste Special command to paste the slices into a different location within the same document.
