Editing photos is a process that can be done with a number of different software programs. However, Photoshop has become the industry standard for photo editing.

There are many different editing techniques that can be used in Photoshop, but some of the most basic and essential techniques are covered in this article.

Cropping

One of the most basic editing techniques in Photoshop is cropping. This involves trimming down the size of an image by cutting out parts of the photo that are not needed. Cropping can be used to change the composition of an image, to remove distractions from the background, or to simply make an image smaller.

To crop an image in Photoshop, use the “Crop Tool” located in the Tools palette. Then, click and drag on the image to select the area you want to keep. Once you have made your selection, hit the “Enter” key on your keyboard to crop the image.

Resizing

Another common editing technique is resizing. This is often necessary when an image needs to be made smaller or larger for a specific purpose. For example, if you want to use an image on a website, it will need to be sized correctly so that it doesn’t take up too much space or look too small. Resizing an image in Photoshop is easy to do.

Simply go to “Image” in the top menu bar and then select “Image Size” from the drop-down menu. A new window will pop up where you can enter in the new width and height for your image. Make sure that “Constrain Proportions” is checked so that your image doesn’t become distorted.

Adjusting Brightness and Contrast

Another basic editing technique is adjusting the brightness and contrast of an image. This can be done to make an image appear lighter or darker, or to make the colors pop more (or less).

To adjust brightness and contrast in Photoshop, go to “Image” in the top menu bar and then select “Adjustments” from the drop-down menu. From there, select “Brightness/Contrast” and a new window will pop up with sliders that you can use to adjust these settings.

Conclusion:

These are just a few of the basic editing techniques that can be used in Photoshop. There are many more advanced techniques that can be learned, but these basics will give you a good foundation on which to build your knowledge.
