AWS Region Availability

If you are using AWS for your online business, then you are likely using one of the available AWS Regions. AWS Regions are the logical groupings of AWS resources that are made available to customers in specific geographic regions.

When a Region becomes unavailable, then AWS will attempt to replicate the Region as closely as possible. However, there are certain limitations to the replication process that can lead to degraded performance. If a Region becomes unavailable, then you may experience the following issues:

Your applications may experience degraded performance

Your instances may not be able to launch

Your security groUPS may not be able to operate

Your availability zones may not be able to function

Your settings may not be preserved

When choosing a Region for your business, it is important to consider the Region’s availability. If you are anticipating using a Region that is unavailable at some point in the future, then you should make sure to plan for the possibility.

PRO TIP: If an AWS region goes down, it means that all of the AWS services in that region are unavailable. This can cause major disruptions for businesses that rely on AWS services, and can lead to data loss and downtime.
