What if My Store Name Is Taken on Shopify?

Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 4:37 am

There are a few things you can do if your store name is taken on Shopify. First, try adding a unique word or phrase to the end of your store name. For example, if your store name is “Fashionista”, you could try “Fashionista_2” or “Fashionista_Boutique”.

If that doesn’t work, try changing the spelling of your store name slightly. For example, you could change “Fashionista” to “Fashonista”. Finally, if all else fails, you could try using a different Top Level Domain (TLD) such as .net or .biz.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to open a shop on Shopify, please be aware that someone may have already taken the name you want for their store. This could cause confusion for your customers, and could also mean that your store’s URL is not available. To avoid this, we recommend checking to see if the name you want is available before setting up your shop.
