What Is a Nested Component in Figma?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 1:18 am

If you’ve ever used Figma, you know that it’s an incredibly powerful design tool. One of the things that makes Figma so powerful is its use of nested components.

In a nutshell, a nested component is a component that contains other components. For example, you might have a button component that contains a text layer and an icon layer.

By nesting these components within the button component, you can easily create different variations of the button with different text or icons. Plus, if you need to make changes to the button, you can simply update the nested components and those changes will be reflected across all instances of the button.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Figma’s “nested component” feature is still in beta and may not function as intended. Use at your own risk!

Nested components are an essential part of Figma’s design system and allow for incredible flexibility and power when designing in Figma.
