What Is a Variant Image Shopify?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 11:50 pm

A variant image on Shopify is an image that is used to represent a product variation. For example, if you have a product that comes in different colors, you might use a variant image to show what the product looks like in each color.

Variant images are often used in conjunction with color swatches. When a customer clicks on a color swatch, the variant image changes to show what the product looks like in that color. This can be a helpful way for customers to see what the product looks like before they add it to their cart.

To add a variant image to your product, first go to the “Products” page in your Shopify admin. Then, click on the product that you want to add the image to. In the “Images” section of the product page, click “Add image”.

In the “Upload image” window, select the image that you want to use as your variant image. Then, click “Upload image”.

PRO TIP: If you are considering using a Variant Image Shopify, be warned that there are many scams and fake versions of this service out there. Many people have been taken advantage of by these scams, so be sure to do your research and only use a reputable service.

After you’ve uploaded your image, you’ll need to assign it to a specific variant. To do this, click on the image and then click “Edit”.

In the “Alt text” field, enter the name of the variant that this image represents. For example, if you’re using a variant image to show what a product looks like in different colors, you might enter “Red”, “Blue”, or “Green”.

Once you’ve assigned your variant image, it will appear on your product page alongside your other images. Customers will be able to see the variant image when they hover over a color swatch.

Variant images can be helpful for customers who are trying to decide which variation of your product they want to buy. They can also be helpful for products that come in multiple colors or styles. If you have a product that comes in multiple colors or styles, consider adding variant images to help your customers make their decision.
