What Is HDR Toning in Photoshop?

HDR Toning is a new feature in Photoshop that allows you to create high dynamic range images. HDR images are created by combining multiple exposures of the same scene into one image.

The result is an image with a greater range of tonal values than a single exposure can provide. HDR Toning allows you to create an HDR image from a single exposure, by applying a tone curve to the image.

The HDR Toning feature can be found in the “Image” menu, under “Adjustments”. To access the HDR Toning dialog, select the “HDR Toning” option from the drop-down menu.

The HDR Toning dialog consists of three tabs: Tone Curve, Parameters, and Presets. The Tone Curve tab allows you to adjust the tonal values of the image using a tone curve. The Parameters tab allows you to adjust the strength of the effect, and the Presets tab allows you to save your settings as a preset.

PRO TIP: HDR Toning in Photoshop can produce some amazing results, but it can also be very destructive to your image. If not used carefully, HDR Toning can introduce artifacts and noise into your image that can be very difficult to remove.

To create an HDR image from a single exposure, select the “HDR Toning” option from the Image menu, and then select the “Tone Curve” tab. Adjust the tonal values of the image using the tone curve.

To increase the contrast of the image, drag the white point down, and to decrease the contrast, drag the white point up. To increase the brightness of the image, drag the black point up, and to decrease the brightness, drag the black point down. To increase the saturation of colors, drag the saturation slider to the right, and to decrease color saturation, drag the slider to
the left.
