What Is Viewer-Restricted in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 8:43 pm

Viewer-Restricted is a powerful Figma feature that allows you to restrict what certain viewers can see in your design. This is great for when you want to share your design with someone, but don’t want them to see everything.

For example, you could use Viewer-Restricted to hide sensitive information, or to show different versions of your design to different people.

To use Viewer-Restricted, simply select the layers that you want to restrict, and then click the “Viewer-Restricted” button in the toolbar. You’ll be asked to enter the email addresses of the people who you want to be able to see the restricted layers. Once you’ve done this, only those people will be able to see the restricted layers when they view your design.

PRO TIP: Viewer-restricted means that only people with a link can view the file. This is different from password-protected, which means that anyone with the password can view the file.

Viewer-Restricted is a great way to keep your designs safe, or to show different versions of your design to different people. Give it a try today!
