What virtualization does Linode use?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 12:56 pm

Virtualization is a process of creating a simulation of a computer system in a different environment from the one in which the computer system is physically located. This allows multiple copies of the system to be run simultaneously without affecting each other, which can be useful for testing or for running multiple versions of the same software.

PRO TIP: Linode uses Xen virtualization, which can be susceptible to the “Xen hypervisor escape” attack. Be sure to keep your Linode’s kernel and Xen up to date to mitigate this risk.

Linode uses virtualization to create multiple copies of a computer system. This allows Linode to run different versions of the same software on different computers without affecting each other.

This is useful for testing or for running multiple versions of the same software.
