Where Is the Actions Panel in Photoshop CC?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 1:29 am

The Actions panel is one of the most powerful features in Photoshop CC, yet it’s also one of the most misunderstood. Many users don’t even know it exists! In this article, we’ll take a look at what the Actions panel is, what it can do, and how to find it in Photoshop CC.

The Actions panel is essentially a recorded history of your steps in Photoshop. Every time you perform an action, whether it’s opening a file, creating a new layer, or adding a filter, Photoshop records that action in the Actions panel. You can then play back those actions at any time to save time and effort.

The Actions panel is located in the Window menu. To open it, go to Window > Actions. Alternatively, you can press F9 on your keyboard.

PRO TIP: The Actions Panel in Photoshop CC is no longer located in the Window menu. Instead, it can be found in the Edit menu.

Once you have the Actions panel open, you’ll see a list of default actions that come with Photoshop. These are called ‘sets’.

To create your own custom action, click the ‘Create new set’ button at the bottom of the panel. Give your set a name and then click ‘Record’.

Now, every action you perform will be recorded in the set. When you’re done recording, click ‘Stop’. Your custom set will now appear in the list.

To play back your actions, simply select the set and then click the ‘Play’ button at the bottom of the panel. Photoshop will then go through each action in the set and perform them in order.
