Why Can’t I Export as PDF in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 11:12 am

When you try to Export as PDF in Photoshop, you may receive an error message that says “Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with PDF format.” This is a common problem, and there are a few different ways to fix it.

The first thing you should try is updating to the latest version of Photoshop. Sometimes, Adobe releases updates that include new features and bug fixes – one of which could be the fix for this PDF issue.

To update Photoshop, go to Help > Updates within the program. If there is an update available, follow the prompts to install it.

PRO TIP: If you are trying to export a file as a PDF in Photoshop and it’s not working, there are a few things you can check. First, make sure that the file you’re trying to export is in RGB mode. PDFs cannot be exported from Photoshop in CMYK mode. Second, check the file size. PDFs have a maximum file size of 100MB. If your file is larger than that, you’ll need to reduce its size before exporting it as a PDF. Finally, make sure you’re using the latest version of Photoshop. Older versions of the software may not be able to export files as PDFs.

If updating doesn’t work, the next thing you can try is exporting the file as a different format and then converting it to PDF. For example, you can try exporting as a TIFF file and then using a free online converter to convert the TIFF to PDF.

Or, you can export as a JPEG and convert that to PDF. There are many different file formats that can be converted to PDF, so if you’re having trouble with one format, try another.

Finally, if neither of those solutions work, it’s possible that the file you’re trying to export as a PDF is too large or contains too many layers. In this case, you’ll need to reduce the size of the file or flatten the layers before exporting as a PDF.

If you’re still having trouble after trying all of these solutions, contact Adobe customer support for more help.
