Why Can’t I Make a Font Bold in Canva?

When it comes to HTML, there are certain tags that you can use to style your text. The < b > tag is used to make text bold, while the < u > tag is used to underline text. However, there is no tag that can be used to make text italic.

This is because the < i > tag is used to denote text that is part of an alternate voice or mood, such as a foreign word or a technical term. As such, using the < i > tag to make text italic would result in confusing and incorrect use of HTML.

The good news is that there are still ways to make your text italic in Canva. All you need to do is use the CSS property “font-style” and set it to “italic”.

You can do this inline, or you can set it in the style sheet. Inline styling is when you use the style attribute within an HTML element. For example:

PRO TIP: If you are trying to make a font bold in Canva and it is not working, it is likely because the font you are using does not have a bold version. Try using a different font or typeface that has a bold version.
