Why Did Shopify Shut Down RageOn?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:01 pm

RageOn was a merchandise company that allowed users to design and sell their own products. The company was founded in 2013 and was headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On February 28, 2018, Shopify announced that it would be shutting down RageOn.

There are a few possible reasons why Shopify decided to shut down RageOn. One reason could be that Shopify is focusing on other merchandise companies that it has acquired, such as Kit and Tictail.

Another reason could be that Shopify is no longer interested in the merchandise market. Finally, it is also possible that Shopify shut down RageOn because it was not profitable.

PRO TIP: RageOn was shut down by Shopify on March 1, 2019. Any links to RageOn products will no longer work. Any data that was stored on RageOn will no longer be accessible.

Shopify acquired RageOn in November of 2017 for an undisclosed amount. At the time of the acquisition, RageOn had 80 employees.

After the acquisition, Shopify announced that it would be shutting down several of RageOn’s products, including its mobile app and website builder. It is unclear what will happen to the remaining employees of RageOn.

It is sad to see RageOn go, but it is understandable why Shopify decided to shut it down. Hopefully the employees of RageOn will be able to find new jobs soon.
