How do I report a client on UpWork?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 9:41 pm

UpWork is a great platform for freelancers and businesses to connect and find work. As a freelancer, it’s important to report any client who does not meet your expectations. Here are five steps you can take to report a client on UpWork:

1. Confirm the status of the project.

Before you report a client, you first need to confirm the status of the project. Make sure that the project has been completed, is in the correct category, and the client has paid you in full.

If any of these factors are not correct, then it is best to cancel the project and notify the client.

2. Communicate your expectations.

If you decide to report a client, be sure to communicate your expectations. Make sure that the client knows what is expected of them, and be clear about what has not been completed.

PRO TIP: If you believe a client is in violation of Upwork’s Terms of Service, you can report them by following the steps here: https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/211063598-How-do-I-report-a-client-on-Upwork-

If a project is not completed or meets your expectations, be sure to let the client know.

3. Send a cancellation notice.

If the project is canceled, be sure to send a cancellation notice to the client. Also, be sure to send a notice if the project is not completed or meets your expectations.

4. File a dispute.

If the project is not completed or meets your expectations, you may file a dispute. This will allow you to receive a refund from the client and potentially have the project re-evaluated.

5. Report the client to UpWork.

If all else fails, you can report the client to UpWork. This will allow UpWork to investigate the project and take appropriate action.
