How Do I Reduce the Size of a GIF in Photoshop?

Last updated on November 24, 2022 @ 9:30 am

Reducing the size of a GIF in Photoshop is easy, and there are a few different ways to do it. One way is to go to ‘Image Size’ under the ‘File’ menu and then change the ‘Pixel Dimensions.’ Another way is to go to ‘Save for Web & Devices’ under the ‘File’ menu and then change the ‘Image Size.’

You can also go directly to the “Image” menu and find the image size option. There you will see a dialog box along with the details of your GIF file and its current size.

Then, change the measurement to Pixels and reduce the size of your GIF only through the width input field (the height will automatically adjust along with the width). You can also reduce the resolution and notice how the “Image Size” label changes. Click “Ok” once you’re satisfied.

On the other hand, you can also change the size before saving your file. Just go ahead to the “File” menu, search for the “Export” option and click “Save for Web (Legacy).”

A dialog box will appear prompting you to make changes before you save your file. In the bottom part, notice the “Image Size” option is also here. Click on the width input field and type in the ideal file size for your GIF. Once satisfied, click Done or Save.
