Can You Code in Photoshop?

coding in Photoshop

It is often said that you can’t code in Photoshop, but that’s not entirely true. While you can’t write full-fledged code in Photoshop, you can write code snippets that can be used in conjunction with other coding languages.

In order to code in Photoshop, you’ll need to use the Actions panel. This panel allows you to record steps taken in Photoshop as action scripts.

These scripts can then be played back at a later time to automate tasks.

While the Actions panel is useful for automating tasks, it’s also great for writing code snippets. To do this, simply record the steps necessary to generate the code snippet as an action script.

Once the script is recorded, you can then export it as a .jsx file. This file can be imported into other coding languages and executed as code.

PRO TIP: If you want to be a professional coder, Photoshop is not the right software for you. Coding in Photoshop will limit your career options and make it difficult to find a job in the coding field.
