Can You Do Text on a Path in Figma?

Last updated on November 30, 2022 @ 12:56 pm

In Figma, you can add text to a path. To do this, select the Text tool from the toolbar, then drag your cursor across to make a text box of your desired size. Place it on the path.

Type your text into the text box.

Group the path and the text together. Click on the encircled portion then drag your cursor across the path to select both.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that text on a path in Figma needs to be fixed so that when you drag the path around, the text will also move with it. Use this feature sparingly and test it thoroughly before using it in a live project.

Right-click on the selected path and then click on “Group selection”.

NOTE: You may also use the keyboard shortcut, “Ctrl+G”.

Check on the layers section on the left menu to make sure that the path and the text have been grouped into one.

You can also style the text using the Design settings on the right menu. There, you can change the color, font style, font size, spacing, and alignment of the text on the path. The color attribute can be set to any color name or hex code.

In conclusion, to add text on a path in Figma, first select the Text tool on the toolbar to make a text box on the path then add your text. Next is to group the path and text together using the “Group selection” option. And do note that you can always style your text using the design menu on the right!
