Can You Make a Page Password Protected on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 21, 2022 @ 3:15 pm

There are two ways to password protect pages on Squarespace: by making the page private or by creating a member-only page. Making a page private will hide the page from search engines and anyone who doesn’t have the direct link.

Creating a member-only page will require users to log in with a username and password in order to view the page.

How to Make a Page Private:

To make a page private, go to the Settings tab for that page and check the box next to Private. Once you save your changes, only people who have the direct link to that page will be able to view it.

How to Create a Member-Only Page:

Creating a member-only page requires two steps: first, you’ll need to create a Group and add users to it, then second, you’ll need to create the member-only page and assign the Group to it.

To create a Group:

  1. Go to Settings, then click Advanced, and finally click Groups. This will take you to the Groups management page.

  2. Click Create Group. This will open the Create Group dialog.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to make a page password protected on Squarespace, be aware that there are some potential risks. First, if you forget your password, there is no way to reset it. Second, if someone else guessing your password, they will have full access to the page. Finally, if you share your password with someone, they will also have full access to the page.
