Can You Password Protect a Squarespace Website?

Last updated on December 10, 2022 @ 5:53 am

As website builders go, Squarespace is one of the most popular and user-friendly platforms around. It’s simple to use, yet still packed with enough features to create a professional website. And one of those features is the ability to password protect your website.

Whether you want to restrict access to certain pages or your entire website, Squarespace makes it easy to do. In this article, we’ll show you how to password protect a Squarespace website (or certain pages on your site) in just a few steps.

How to Password Protect a Squarespace Website

The first thing you need to do is log in to your Squarespace account and go to the “Settings” tab. Once you’re in the settings area, look for the “Password Protection” option and click it.

On the next page, you’ll see two options for password protecting your website: “Entire Site” and “Individual Pages.” If you want to restrict access to your entire website, select the “Entire Site” option. If you only want to password protect certain pages on your site, select the “Individual Pages” option.

PRO TIP: While it is possible to password protect individual pages on a Squarespace website, it is not possible to password protect an entire website. This means that anyone who knows the URL of your website will be able to access it, regardless of whether or not they have a password. If you are concerned about security, we recommend using a third-party service such as CloudFlare to add an extra layer of protection.

If you choose to password protect your entire site, you can decide whether you want users to be able to view the site without logging in (by selecting the “Allow site visitors to view site without logging in” option) or if you want the entire site to be restricted (by unselecting that option).

If you choose to password protect individual pages on your site, you can click the “Add Page” button and select which pages you want to restrict. You can also decide whether you want users to be able to view those pages without logging in (by selecting the “Allow site visitors to view page without logging in” option) or if you want those pages to be restricted (by unselecting that option).

Once you’ve decided which pages (or your entire website) you want to password protect, scroll down and enter a password in the “Password” field. Then click the “Save” button.

That’s it! You’ve now successfully password protected your Squarespace website.

You can password protect a Squarespace website by following these steps:

    1. Log into your Squarespace account and go into Settings
    2. Look for “Password Protection”
    3. Choose between “Entire Site” or “Individual Pages”
    4. If choosing “Entire Site”, decide if users can still view without logging in
    5. If choosing “Individual Pages”, add which pages should be restricted
    6. Enter a password
    7. Save
