Can You Trace an Image in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 8:22 pm

When it comes to images, there are a few ways to trace them. The first, and most common, is to use the pen tool.

With the pen tool, you can click around the image to create anchor points. These anchor points will then be used to create a path that follows the contours of the image.

You can also use the auto-trace tool to quickly create a path around an image. This is a great option if you’re not too familiar with the pen tool or if you’re tracing a simple image.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to use Figma to trace an image, be aware that there are some potential risks involved. First of all, Figma is not designed for image tracing, so you may not get the results you are hoping for. Additionally, if you are not careful, you may end up accidentally tracing a copyrighted image, which could result in legal problems. So, if you do decide to use Figma for image tracing, be sure to do your research first and be very careful.

Once you have a path around your image, you can then use the fill tool to color it in. You can also add a stroke to the path if you want.

If you’re looking to add some text to your image, you can use the text tool. Just click on the image where you want to add your text and start typing. You can change the font, size, and color of your text using the options in the top toolbar.

Once you’re happy with your image, you can Export it as an .svg file or save it as a .png file.
