How Do I Add a Pay Now Button on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 26, 2022 @ 6:23 pm

Adding a “Pay Now” button to your Squarespace website is a great way to take payments for products or services. There are two ways to do this: using the Code Block element, or using the Button Block element.

Using the Code Block element, you can add HTML code that includes a “Pay Now” button. This is the more technical approach and requires some knowledge of HTML. If you’re not comfortable with HTML, we recommend using the Button Block element.

To use the Code Block element:

  1. Log in to your Squarespace account and go to the Dashboard.
  2. Click the Pages icon.
  3. Hover over the page where you want to add the button and click Edit.
  4. Click an Insert Point or the + sign and select Code from the menu.
  5. In the Code Editor, paste your code in the box and click Apply.

The second way to add a “Pay Now” button to your Squarespace website is by using the Button Block element. This approach is less technical and doesn’t require any knowledge of HTML. To use the Button Block element:

  1. Log in to your Squarespace account and go to the Dashboard.
  2. Click the Pages icon.
  3. (If you’re adding a button to a blog post, click the Blogging icon and then click Posts.)
  4. (If you’re adding a button to a product page, clickCommerce and then click Products. )
  5. (If you’re adding a button to any other type of page, hover over that page and click Edit. )

     <button class="sqs-block-button--large" type="button">Add Button</button>

PRO TIP: If you are planning to add a Pay Now button to your Squarespace website, be aware that there are some risks involved. Specifically, if you do not set up the button correctly, you may end up accidentally charging your customers twice for their purchase. Additionally, if you do not have a secure payment processor in place, your customers' credit card information could be at risk.
