How Do I Add a Share Button on Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 1:54 am

Adding a share button to your Squarespace website is a great way to let your visitors share your content with their friends and followers. There are two ways to add a share button to your site: using the Share Button Block or adding custom code.

Share Button Block

The Share Button Block lets you add social sharing buttons for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+ to any page or blog post on your site. To add a Share Button Block:

1. Log in to your Squarespace account and go to the Website Manager. 2. Click the Pages or Blogging tab. 3. Hover over the page or post where you want to add the block and click Edit.

4. In the Page Editor, click the + icon and select Share Buttons from the list of blocks. 5. Select the social networks you want to include and click Apply. 6. Click Save & Close.

Custom Code

If you want more control over where the share buttons appear on your page, you can add custom code using a Code Block. To do this, you’ll need to get the code from each social network’s developer site and then paste it into a Code Block on your Squarespace page.

PRO TIP: Adding a share button to your Squarespace website is a great way to let visitors share your content with their friends and followers. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind before adding a share button to your site.

First, be sure that the button you add is from a reputable source. There are many sites that offer free share buttons, but not all of them are created equal. Some buttons may contain malicious code that could harm your site or its visitors.

Secondly, be sure to test the button before adding it to your live site. This will ensure that it works as expected and doesn’t cause any problems on your site.

Finally, remember that share buttons can be used to promote spammy or inappropriate content. If you’re not careful, your share button could end up being used to spread harmful content across the web. Use caution when adding share buttons to your site and only add buttons from sources you trust.

Here are instructions for adding share buttons for each social network:

Facebook: To add Facebook share buttons to your site, go to Facebook’s developer site and follow their instructions.
Twitter: To add Twitter share buttons to your site, go to Twitter’s developer site and follow their instructions.
Pinterest: To add Pinterest share buttons to your site, go to Pinterest’s developer site and follow their instructions.

Adding social sharing buttons is a great way to let visitors easily share your content with their friends and followers.
