How Do I Change Line Spacing in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 12:55 pm

There are a few different ways that you can change the line spacing in Photoshop. You can use the “Paragraph” panel, the “Character” panel, or you can change the leading directly in the “Options Bar” when you have a text layer selected.

In the “Paragraph” panel, you can change the spacing before and after paragraphs, as well as the space between lines within a paragraph. To access the “Paragraph” panel, go to Window > Paragraph.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, changing the line spacing in Photoshop can cause your text to become distorted. Be sure to use the correct tool for your desired effect, and take care to preview your changes before finalizing them.

In the “Character” panel, you can also change the leading. Leading is the vertical space between lines of text. To access the “Character” panel, go to Window > Character.

You can also change the leading directly in the “Options Bar” when you have a text layer selected. Just enter a new value in the “Leading” field. The default unit of measurement is pixels, but you can change it to points, picas, or millimeters by clicking on the drop-down menu to the right of the field.

Changing the line spacing can be helpful when you want to fit more text into a limited space, or when you want to make your text more readable. Experiment with different values until you find something that looks good to you.
