How do I convert an image to a vector in Illustrator?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 6:47 pm

In Illustrator, you can easily convert an image to a vector by using the Image > Convert to Vector command. To do so, first select the image in the document. Next, click the Image > Convert to Vector command in the Illustrator toolbar. The Convert to Vector dialog box will appear.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, converting an image to a vector in Illustrator can result in the loss of image quality. Be sure to use high-resolution images and use the software’s tracing tools wisely to avoid losing detail or creating jagged edges.

In the dialog box, you can specify the resolution of the vector image, as well as the format. You can also specify the size of the vector image. Once you have finished entering the information, click the OK button. The converted vector image will appear in the document.
