How Do I Edit a Template in WooCommerce?

Last updated on January 12, 2023 @ 1:47 pm

When it comes to eCommerce platforms, WooCommerce is one of the most popular choices for small businesses and entrepreneurs. One of the reasons for its popularity is that it is built on WordPress, which is a very user-friendly platform.

Another reason is that WooCommerce is highly customizable, and there are many different themes and plugins available to change the look and feel of your store.

One of the most common questions we get asked here at TidyDesigns is how to edit a template in WooCommerce. Although WooCommerce does not offer a built-in editor like some other platforms, it is still relatively easy to edit your templates. In this article, we will show you how to edit a WooCommerce template.

  1. Log in to your WordPress site. If you are not already logged in, you will need to do so now. You can do this by going to your site’s login URL and entering your username and password.
  2. Navigate to the “WooCommerce” tab. Once you are logged in, you will be taken to the WordPress dashboard. From here, hover over the “WooCommerce” tab in the left-hand sidebar and then click on “Templates” in the drop-down menu.
  3. Find the template you want to edit.On the “Templates” page, you will see a list of all the WooCommerce templates that are installed on your site. Find the template you want to edit and then click on the “Edit” button.
  4. Make your changes. Once you have clicked on the “Edit” button, you will be taken to the WordPress editor. Here, you can make any changes you want to the template. Once you are finished, click on the “Update File” button to save your changes.

That’s all there is to it! Editing a WooCommerce template is really easy once you know where to find the templates and how to access them. Just remember to always back up your site before making any changes, so you can restore it if something goes wrong.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with code or do not feel comfortable making changes to your site’s code, we do not recommend making changes to a WooCommerce template. Doing so could break your site.
