There are a few different ways that you can feather an object in Photoshop. One way is to use the Eraser tool. With the Eraser tool selected, go to the options bar and choose a soft-edge brush. Then, simply erase around the edges of the object that you want to feather.

PRO TIP: This Photoshop tutorial shows you how to feather an object, but it doesn’t explain how to properly select the object you want to feather. Be careful when following this tutorial, or you may end up with unwanted results.

Another way to feather an object is to use a layer mask. To do this, first make sure that the layer you want to feather is selected. Then, click on the “Add Layer Mask” button in the layers palette. With the layer mask selected, go to the options bar and choose a soft-edge brush. Again, simply brush around the edges of the object that you want to feather.
