How Do I Fix Blurry Text in Photoshop?

Last updated on January 29, 2023 @ 7:34 pm

It is a common problem that text can appear blurry in Photoshop. This is usually caused by one of two things: either the anti-aliasing is set too high, or the text is being rendered at a low resolution. Let’s take a look at how to fix both of these problems.

You can solve both of these problems by following these steps:

First, duplicate the layer with blurry text. To do this, go to the Layers window, right-click on the layer and select the “Duplicate Layer” option.

Type in a name for your duplicate layer and click on the “Ok” button.

With the duplicate layer selected, go to the Filter menu at the top and select Other > High Pass.

In the High Pass window that will appear, set the radius to “3” and click on the “Ok” button.

Then, go to the Layers window and set the blending mode of the duplicate layer to “Linear Light.”

Next is to merge the two layers. Just select both layers, right-click on them and select the “Merge Layers” option.

Once the layers are merged, go to Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask.

Set the amount to “500” and click on the “Ok” button.

Lastly, repeat the “Unsharp Mask” steps with the amount still set to “500” to increase the vividness of your text.

And you’re done! Here is the before-and-after comparison of the effect of the steps you just did!

Conclusion:

These are two common problems that can cause text to appear blurry in Photoshop. By either reducing the anti-aliasing or increasing the resolution of the image, you should be able to fix this problem. Either way, you can solve both problems by following the steps above so give it a try!

PRO TIP: If you are experiencing blurry text in Photoshop, it is important to first check your Photoshop preferences. Go to Edit > Preferences > General and make sure that the “Use Graphics Processor” option is checked. If this option is not checked, your text may appear blurry. Additionally, make sure that your graphics card is compatible with Photoshop and that you have the latest drivers installed.
