How do I generate SSH key for Linode?

If you’re using a Linux-based server, you can generate an SSH key pair to secure your connections.

To generate a key pair, open a terminal and type the following command:

ssh-keygen

If you’re using a Mac, you can generate a key pair by opening the Keychain Access app and selecting the “Generate a new key” option on the main toolbar.

PRO TIP: When generate an SSH key for your Linode, you will need to provide a passphrase. It is important that you use a strong passphrase, as this will be used to encrypt your private key. If your private key is compromised, someone could gain access to your Linode without needing your password.

Once you’ve generated your key pair, you’ll need to save it to a location on your computer. You can save it to a USB drive, for example, or you can store it in a secure location on your computer.

Finally, you’ll need to add the public key to your Linode account. To do this, log in to your Linode account and click the “SSH” button in the main navigation bar. Next, select the “Keys” tab and click the “Add” button.

In the “Keypair name” field, type in the name of your key pair, and in the “Location” field, type in the folder where you saved the key pair. Finally, select the “Add” button to add the key pair to your account.
