How do I make a color transparent in Photoshop?

Making a color transparent in Photoshop can be a bit tricky, but there are a few techniques you can use.

The easiest way is to decrease the Opacity. This allows you to control the transparency of a layer or selection. To make a color transparent, first, simply select the colored layer that you want to make transparent.

Then, go to the Opacity section and choose a value between 0% and 100%.

NOTE: The lower the Opacity value, the more transparent the color will become.

Another section that you can adjust is the color’s fill. There are two ways to do this. One way is to decrease the Fill by adjusting the percentage or the slider of the Fill section in the Layers tab.

NOTE: The lower the Fill value, the more transparent the color will become.

The second way is to go to the Properties tab and in the Fill section, select the “No fill” option and it will remove the color fill of your text making it transparent.

PRO TIP: When making a color transparent in Photoshop, it is important to first desaturate the image. This can be done by going to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate. Once the image is desaturated, go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. Set the saturation to -100 and click “Colorize.” Choose a color from the dropdown menu that you would like to make transparent. Finally, go to Layers > Opacity/Fill and drag the slider to decrease the amount to the preferred color transparency.
