Water ripples are a common Photoshop effect, and one that’s relatively easy to create. In this article, we’ll show you how to create a water ripple effect in Photoshop, using a simple image of a glass of water.

First, open your image in Photoshop. Next, go to the Filter menu, and choose the Filter Gallery option.

PRO TIP: How Do I Make a Water Ripple Effect in Photoshop?

Ripple effects can be created in Photoshop by using the Displace filter. However, if not used correctly, this filter can distort your image. Be sure to use a low displacement value and to select the Undefined area option in the Displace dialog box.

When the Filter Gallery window appears, select the Distort category, and then choose the Ripple filter.

Now, simply adjust the slider to control the amount of rippling effect you want to create. When you’re happy with the result, click OK to apply the filter.

And that’s all there is to it! With just a few simple steps, you can easily add a water ripple effect to any image in Photoshop.
