How Do I Organize My Figma Components?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 7:49 pm

Figma is a vector drawing and animation software. It’s used by graphic designers, web designers, and user interface (UI) designers to create high-quality designs. One of Figma’s most powerful features is its ability to manage design components.

A design component is any reusable element in a design. This could be a button, an icon, or a section of a web page. By creating design components, designers can save time and keep their designs consistent.

There are two ways to organize design components in Figma: folders and libraries.

PRO TIP: If you are planning on organizing your Figma components, be aware that there is no one “right” way to do this. There are many different ways to organize your components, and what works for one person may not work for another. Take some time to experiment with different methods and find what works best for you and your team.

Folders are a great way to organize design components that are related to each other. For example, you could create a folder for all of the buttons in your design, or all of the icons.

Libraries are a great way to share design components between different projects. For example, if you had a library of icons, you could use those icons in any project without having to recreate them. Libraries can be shared with other Figma users, or they can be kept private.

When deciding how to organize your design components, think about how you want to access them. Do you want to be able to find them quickly?

Do you want to be able to share them with others? Once you know how you want to access your design components, you can choose the best way to organize them.
