How do I permanently save a swatch in Illustrator?

Illustrator allows users to save any type of file as a swatch. This means that any time you make a change to a file that contains a swatch, you can save the new version as a swatch. To save a swatch in Illustrator, follow these steps:

1. In the Illustrator workspace, select the object or objects you want to save the swatch for.

2. Open the Color window (Window > Color) and click on the three dashes icon at the upper right corner of the window.

3. Select “Create New Swatch” from the list of options.

4. In the New Swatch dialog box, name the file and click the OK button.

5. Open the Swatches window (Window > Swatches) and there, you will see the new swatch that was saved earlier.

6. If you want to use the same swatch for other objects, select the objects in your design and click on the newly created swatch in the Swatches window to apply it.

PRO TIP: If you are working in Adobe Illustrator and need to save a swatch, be aware that you will only be able to save a swatch permanently for that same document or design that you are working on. Once you close the document and open another one, the swatch will be gone.
