How do you get rid of the background in Illustrator?

Backgrounds can be a bit of a pain to remove from Illustrator files. There are a few different ways to go about it, and each has its own pros and cons.

1. Use the Erase tool.

The Erase tool has a variety of settings that can help you remove specific types of backgrounds. You can use the Quick Selection tool to isolate the background, and then use the Erase tool to delete it.

This method is fast and easy, but it doesn’t always work perfectly. Sometimes the background will be too faint or too large to completely erase.

2. Use the Background Eraser. The Background Eraser is a more powerful tool that helps you remove multiple layers of backgrounds at once.

To use it, first select the area you want to erase the background from. Then click the Background Eraser button (it looks like a white erase brush).

The Background Eraser will automatically select the layers below the one you select, so be careful not to accidentally erase any of the layers above the one you want to remove the background from.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, you can accidentally delete parts of your image when using the eraser tool to remove the background in Illustrator.

The downside to using the Background Eraser is that it can be time-consuming and difficult to use. It’s best to use it if you have a very specific, precise destination in mind for where you want the background to go.

3. Use the Liquify tool. The Liquify tool is a powerful tool that can help you change the shape of the background.

To use it, first select the area you want to change the background shape of. Then use the Liquify tool to edit the background shape.

The Liquify tool is a bit more difficult to use than the Erase and Background Eraser tools, but it can be a more versatile option if you want to change the shape of the background more than justremove it.

4. Use the Clone Stamp tool. The Clone Stamp tool is a great option if you want to copy the background exactly.

To use it, first select the area you want to copy the background from. Then use the Clone Stamp tool to copy the background.

The Clone Stamp tool is fast and easy to use, but it can be a bit tricky to get the exact copy you want. It’s best to use the Clone Stamp tool if you just want a basic copy of the background, without any modifications.
