How Do I Remove Copyright From Shopify?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 3:54 pm

If you’re looking to remove the copyright from your Shopify store, there are a few ways you can go about doing this. You can either remove the copyright completely, or you can add a custom copyright that includes your own name and website address.

To remove the copyright completely, you’ll need to edit the code in the footer.liquid file. This file controls the code that is output in the footer of your store, so by removing the copyright information from this file, it will no longer be output on your store.

To do this, log in to your Shopify admin and go to Online Store > Themes. Find the theme you’re currently using and click Edit code. In the Layout folder, open the footer.

Once you have the file open, look for the line of code that says:

PRO TIP: If you are planning on removing copyright from your Shopify store, be aware that this is against Shopify’s Terms of Service. Doing so may result in your store being suspended or terminated.

{{ shop.copyright }}

Delete this line of code and then click Save.

Your store will now no longer have a copyright in the footer. If you want to add a custom copyright, simply add your own line of code with your information in place of where the {{ shop.copyright }} was. For example:

Copyright © 2018 My Store Name. All Rights Reserved.

Once you’ve added your custom copyright, be sure to click Save.
