How Do I Smooth an Image in Photoshop?

Last updated on January 26, 2023 @ 4:02 pm

There are a few different ways that you can smooth an image in Photoshop. One way is to use the Smudge tool. With the Smudge tool selected, click and drag your mouse over the area of the image that you want to smooth. The longer you drag your mouse, the more blurred the area will become. You can also use a soft eraser to blur an image. Select the Eraser tool, and then set the mode to “Soft Light”. Use a very low opacity setting, and then click and drag over the area of the image that you want to blur.

Another way to smooth an image is to use the Gaussian Blur filter. To access this filter, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. In the dialog box that appears, you can adjust the Radius setting to control how much blurring is applied to the image. A radius of 1 will produce a very slight blur, while a radius of 10 will produce a very noticeable blur.

If you want to smooth out specific areas of an image, you can use the Clone Stamp tool.

With this tool selected, hold down the Alt key and click on an area of the image that you want to use as a source for cloning. Then, click and drag over the area that you want to smooth. The source area will be copied onto the destination area, and any imperfections in the source area will be smoothed out.
