How Do I Use Layers in Canva?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 11:04 pm

Layers are a great way to keep your design organized in Canva. You can add as many layers as you want to your design, and rearrange them however you like. To add a layer, click the “+” icon at the top of the editor.

You can use layers to group different elements of your design together. For example, you could put all the text elements on one layer, and all the images on another. Or, you could group all the elements for one section of your design together on one layer.

To rearrange the order of your layers, simply click and drag them up or down in the editor. The topmost layer will be the one that appears on top in your design.

Layers are also helpful if you want to make changes to just one part of your design. For example, let’s say you want to change the color of one image. If that image is on its own layer, you can simply select it and make your changes without affecting any other element in your design.

If you want to delete a layer, simply click the trash can icon next to it in the editor.

Layers are a powerful tool that can help you create complex and beautiful designs in Canva. So experiment with them and see what amazing things you can create!

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with using layers in design software, then you should not attempt to use them in Canva. Layers can be very helpful for advanced users, but can also be confusing and frustrating for beginners. If you are not confident in your ability to use layers, then it is best to avoid them altogether.

To use layers in Canva:

  1. Click the “+” icon at the top of the editor to add a new layer.
  2. Arrange different elements on different layers.
  3. Click and drag layers up or down to rearrange their order.
  4. Click the trash can icon next to a layer to delete it.
